Ar. Sunita Subedi received her bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Nepal Engineering College in 2001 and Master’s in Disaster Risk Management from Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus in 2013. She is a recipient of DAAD scholarship twice under South East Asian Educational Network for Disaster and Environmental Engineering (SEANDEE) in University of Kassel, Germany where she was involved in disaster related laboratory works and trainings in 2012 and worked as a medium term research student in 2013.
In her initial career, she worked as a community architect in Children First, an INGO working for the welfare of the children. Here, she was involved in various projects from designing of community centre, improvement of school infrastructure to low cost model house construction at different places of Nepal. After completing her masters, she was involved for a year in review of existing bye-laws and zoning regulations and preparation of participatory micro and macro level planning of all the municipalities of Kathmandu valley for risk sensitive planning project under comprehensive DRM programme for UNDP and endline survey of urban WASH and CBDRM in different places of Lalitpur for OXFAM.
Ar. Sunita Subedi is also the co-founder of Technical Alliance Pvt. Ltd., an architecture firm under which she has successfully executed numerous projects. She is a full time faculty in Acme Engineering College since 2008 and currently holds a position of head of the architecture department.
Architect and Urban Planner by education, Apil K.C. has been involved in both academia as well as in the professional field since 2012. Presently, Mr. KC runs an architecture and urban planning firm, Urban Park Pvt. Ltd., and is associated with the Institute of Engineering, Part-Time Lecturer and DRR Consultant at World Bank
Apil was awarded a fellowship for the 2013 Ando training program in Osaka, Japan, and have received a prestigious DAAD research grant for a stay period of 4 months at the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT) at Cologne University of Applied Sciences, Köln-Germany, during 2014-2015, for his Master’s research in governance and urban planning and 2019 DAAD Short Term Grant
He’s been involved as a researcher at various projects at the Institute of Engineering and other INGOs as JICA, UNDP, and WWF. His research interest includes inclusive planning, integrated and innovative planning practices, urban governance, community-based disaster risk management, and public participation in planning. Apil has been an enthusiastic advocate of inclusive urban planning, political economy, and architecture theories. He’s written on contemporary issues related to urban planning and resilience city planning in popular newspapers and online portals. Mr. KC was also Executive Member of the Society of Nepalese Architects (2016-2018) leading the committee for international relationships and active member of NEA and RUPSON.
Mimang Hang Kirat studied Bachelor of Architecture and MS in Energy for Sustainable Social Development at Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus. Belonging to a minority community from remote village of Bhojpur, he has been a strong advocate of community participation for an equitable and sustainable architecture.
As an architect at Habitat for Humanity International in 2014 he had worked on various sustainable community housing projects in different communities of Nepal. Post 2015 earthquake, he volunteered with a group of young architects to help local communities in constructing transitional shelters using vernacular materials.
Dedicated to fostering architectural education and raising awareness about architecture at community level, he has been working as a full time faculty member at the Department of Architecture at IOE, Purwanchal Campus, Dharan since 2017.
Ar. Anatta Shresthacharya completed his bachelor’s in architecture from Himalaya College of Engineering (HCOE), Institute of Engineering (IOE) in 2015 and M.Sc. in Urban Planning from Pulchowk Campus, IOE in 2020. He has been practicing architecture for the past 6 years and currently working as an architect / urban planner at Building Design Authority Pvt. Ltd. He is also a heritage enthusiast and has worked in various monument as well as urban regeneration projects. He has also participated in several workshops and has been an active activist for post disaster heritage conservation through campaigns like Rebuilt Kasthamandap and Save Nepa Valley. He has also presented paper in National Architectural Conference, 2019 and IOE Graduate Conference, 2020. He has been a member of Society of Nepalese Architects (SONA) since 2017.
